How to specify the units and working template of your Rhino file.

Templates

• Upon creating a new file, Rhino will ask what template you would like to use.
• Templates affect the units of your workspace, as well as the scale of the project you are going to create.

• Large objects are projects who scale is larger than a car.
• Small objects are projects who scale is smaller than a car.
• Picking the right template ensures Rhino displays objects correctly, and saves files with the appropriate level of precision.

<aside> 💡 If no template is specified, Rhino will default to Small Objects - millimeters.

Units

• Units can be changed / specified by typing the units command.

• Selecting the "Model Units" dropdown will allow you to change the units.

If changing units on a file that already has content inside, Rhino will ask you if you would like to scale your project by a percentage. Doing so, will keep your objects at the same absolute dimension. You should generally say yes when prompted to scale after changing units.

• Absolute tolerance and Angle tolerance determines the number of decimal points each object is stored with.
