Lofts are ways of producing surfaces from a series of ordered curves.

Creating Surfaces from Curves

• Lofts create surfaces defined by a sequence of curves.
• Lofts can be generated by a sequence of open or closed curves, however you cannot mix the two
  • Ex. Attempting to loft one circle with a straight line will result in an error.

Loft

• The loft command requires curves as inputs.

• The curves must be selected typically one by one in sequence, so that the Rhino knows what order they go in.

• A dialogue box appears which specifies the type and resolution of the loft

Loft Types

• lofts can be generated in a number of ways.
• The dialogue allows you to specify which type of loft you would like.
• normal loads the default loft settings.

• Loose will deviate from input curves to minimize severity of surface curvature.

• Straight Section will not blend between adjacent loft sections. It will produce ruled surfaces.
